Why you might not want bells-only

Your alarm texts you, so you call the police: they will ask you if you can see somebody in your home. If you say yes, and they don't find an intruder, response times to your home will fall dramatically in the future. (They could also decide to invoice/fine you.)
Monitored alarms are heavily subsidised, meaning your initial investment is lower.
